hi
I bought a insignia about 3 months ago and it is now jumping out of second gear so got it booked in the local gear box specialist.
I've had other problems with the dealer I bought it from like not providing the service history I was promised and the car has only done 35k miles
I'm now worried that the car may be clocked due to low milage and gearbox going and the other issues I've had with the dealer.
I'm just starting to get a bad feeling about the dealer I bought from and the car.
is there anyway to check if the milage has been clocked ?
would they have just had to rewrite bcm or would they have had to change clocks aswell ?
any advice is really apreshiate as I'm having a nightmare since buying the car

Hi
I didnt buy it from stoke i bought it from liverpool shouldnt have bought it maybe but its to late now.
Does your do the same thing then as soon as you put it in second it jumps straight out with a bang ?
It is booked in for Monday at a local gearbox specialist so will update here after they have striped it down and found the problem.
This should not be happening on a car that has only done 35k it is a joke
Mileage can be changed in the BCM over OBD with the right tool, so quite easy to clock. There is a step on MDI when programming the BCM when it says it is checking the mileage I noticed when doing things like TPMS, although it skips that step as not necessary. Not sure what it checks against, so it may be possible with a bit of digging to see if it has been or not.
My 2012 2.0 is on 156K now and not had an issue at all with the gearbox, unless you have the lower powered 2.0 which comes with the dreaded M32, in which case it may well be the bearings.

Mines a 20 cdti 140bhp it does it when you put it in second it woild feel like it was in gear but if you pushed harder on the leaver it went a bit further and went in gear if you didnt push it that bit it would jump out there was a repair for it but mine did exactly the same straight out of the garage on the way home and still does. I had an astra van with the m32 box and the 6th gear bearing went as you put your foot down the leaver would move backwards and forwards

thanks for all the reply
it's going in garage tomorrow so will keep everyone updated.
mine is the f40 I think as I have the 160bhp version.
it is still under warranty but not manufacturers warrenty it has the rac warrenty run by the warrenty group where they pay the first 1k.
after it is all fixed I am going to track down previous car user as there is address in the sat nav and ask them the mileage the car had and try get someone to check with mdi if someone has used xtool or simular to change mileage on bcm and hopefully the millage has backup somewhere.
also if I take v5 into main dealer they can activate myvauxhall where I can see service history if it was done at vauxhall so that is worth a go.
then if I find out it has been clocked I will take them court but even if they don't provide service history may take them court and argue the car is worth less without it
Thanks for Input everyone
