Those symptoms may point to a DMF on it's way out, has that been mentioned at all?
Hi I have a zafira b 2006 1.9cdti 120. I recently broke down on motorway and I've been told it's my thrust bearing? Which I thought the slave valve was the equivalent to the thrust bearing? Am I wrong? The symptoms are when in neutral it clunks and rattles but when I put the clutch in it stops and sounds normal but if I put it in gear and lift to biting point it makes the sounds again. Also if I pull off It hesitates/judders makes noises? Thanks in advance for any help

Yeah but both mechanics have said it's the thrust bearings? As it goes into gear and goes quiet when the clutch is applied. I had a dual mass failure before and the clutch wouldn't do anything at all...
Also can I just replace part or is it a full change? Thanks
OK so it's the gearbox that has failed but I'm wondering now if the dual mass flywheel will be affected any ideas? As I'm being told it could be £1000 just for the gearbox! Any help please
Hmm sounds more to dmf fault not gearbox
In case if its gearbox clutch can be ok but i would change dmf to standart clutch to avoid future dmf failure while gearbox is off but only if you gonna keep the car for a while.
Who told you 1k for box change?
You can get recon box for 500 so 500 for labour looks like they will spend week on replacing it

If getting recon box make sure timken bearings has been used
But as its Fiat box its says all about it "fix it again tomorrow"

Hi thanks for reply. It was a gearbox failure and it also wrecked the dmf which had been on for 4 years so was already on its way out. So all in it cost me £1200 which was better than the £2500 I was quoted by Vauxhall. Made sure the timken bearings was fitted and they also gave me a 2 year parts and labour warranty. Also the bloke used to work at Vauxhall and said that most people (garages) fill the m32 gearbox with the wrong amount of oil which is what causes the 6th gear failure. I can't believe the difference in the drive of the car I'm actually enjoying driving it again. Now just gotta tackle the radiator as it's sprung a leak lol all fun and games
