thats either hex and not bin or a bad read
try to read again
Hello,
I've bought myself a TL866 eeprom reader to try and get the security code from my CD30 MP3.
Would someone be willing to decode the following BIN file for me?
I have attached the file as which I *think* has been read correctly from the chip.
Many thanks,

Sorry I've just got back to this due to work.
Yes I read it using a SO8 clip in the hope that I wouldn't need to desolder it off the board. I've read that sometimes these can give false reads though...is it entirely necessary to desolder?
I will try again tonight...all I am doing to connecting the clip onto the chip, noting Pin 1 position, selecting the chip type and saving the contents to a BIN file...is this definitely all I need to do?
I suppose there is no way to know its worked until I run through the decoder?
I've found the clips to be very variable and need several goes to connect properly. Another post by Pecky claims you don't need to remove the chip.
Does you EEPROM reader give you a checksum for what's it read? If so you might spot the checksum value changing which is a sign of read issues.
There are an awful lot of "1" bits in the first 1KB of that read.
Hi, thanks for the reply!
Yes it does give a checksum as per the following screenshot (taken from another site though);
I will give it a few attempts at reading and see how the checksum changes...last time I did it I could see the ASCII line values changing so perhaps the clip wasn't seated correctly...
I've never read a CD30 (MP3?) EEPROM before but if it's like any of the others you might be able to spot the radio's serial in there somewhere (you might need to scroll down). That's usually a sign of a good EEPROM read for me.
