Hi guys
im in desperate need to fit an aux port in my astra, the problem being that I only have a CD30, and have read that the only way of getting an aux port on one of these it by soldering it on which come with its own problems...
so I was thinking about buying a CD30 MP3 and have that fitted so i can get the aux port. Here's were I need some advice...
can I buy any CD30 MP3 i.e from any model of vauxhall or does it have to a particular type for it to work in an astra h?
grateful for any help

Hi Dan, you can't add aux in to a CD30, you can do it the other way as you mentioned and that means buying a CD30MP3, be careful though as some of these didn't have aux in either. You can tell if they're aux in compatible as they'll have 3 extra pins on the rear of the unit for the aux wiring.
you can buy pretty much any CD30MP3 but again, be careful as the Vectra version has a flat fascia whereas the Astra one has an angled fascia, make sure the one you buy is divorced or comes with the original code or else a certain genius called Pecky will have to strip it apart to read the code from the eeprom in order to get it to work in your car. Once you get to this point then you're ready to have the unit paired up to your car, this will need to be done by TECH2 which is what Pecky does, you can't just fit the stereo and hope that it will work as it will beep every few seconds and show 'display safe' all the while.
This will allow you to fit the aux in socket as pecky also does the aux in woring looms in his shop which can be found at www.diagnostics.org.uk
hope this helps

That's great thanks for the info. Just read that the radio needs to be manufactured after October 2006 for it to have the capability for an aux..
time for me to look around for a CD30 MP3 after Oct '06
Most people will sell these by stating whether they're aux in compatible or not, the other thing to check is that it has the extra 3 pins in the multiplug at the rear
I've got a cd30 mp3 lying around but I don't think it's aux in compatible
