The difference is the signal that is sent down the wire, one sensor affects the resistance of the wire, the other inputs a voltage.

Typically cars before 2006 had linear resistance, cars 2006 on have linear voltage.

With Tech2 or similar, the type is a setting in the IPC (Speedo). Anyone doing programming on your car should be able to find it. Tech2 even tells you whenever you try and programme a display code index.

I changed from TID to GID (13111163 - IDENT KP) on my ASTRA H 1.3 CDTI (2005). Everything OK except Fuel range. I have only this code index on GID:

      00403_noice
      00503_ice
      00801_ice
      00801_noice
      00901_ice
      00901_noice

and fuel sensor is Linear Resistance.

Is it possible somehow to fix that issue with wrong range on BC?

      Thanks in advance.

You look it up on this table http://www.diagnostics.org.uk/help/s...l-Info-Display

So you need code index 002 or 007 to have correct range.

Looks like your opcom is out of date or it isn't covered.

Try connecting as another car, eg zafira to see if it gives you different code indexes.

When connecting as Zafira-B code index is same like my Astra H, but when connecting like Vectra-C/Signum OP-Com shows all code index from 001 to 018.
So is it save to program GID with those code index?

As long as you have the correct code index, I don't think it matters in opcom which vehicle you use to program it. Give it a try.

I try it and it works perfectly but I have to use index code 008 because 007 is without BC.

Thank you very much for help.

I would like to ask one question, using this thread because I think is almost a same situation that I'm facing.

I have installed a CID on an Opel Astra Caravan 1.7 from 2006.
The display that my friend gets does not allow to introduce any index code different from 001 (W/o BC) & 002 (W BC).
The problem is that the Km range is increasing when the tank fuel is decreasing.

Do you think if I made a fuel correction with Tech2 it will solve the problem???
Or it still needs to program the index code 007 or 009 on the CID.

      On the following thread: http://www.diagnostics.org.uk/help/s...r-Info-Display
is says that is possible to do that: "It is possible to enable all the code index's for the BN screen below on the KS version. This will give accurate trip computer functionality, however will not give all the startup logos on the KS screen"

Can you give your opinion to my situation?

      Best Regards,
      QuimZĂ©

It sounds like you have the Linear Voltage fuel sensor, which would mean you need code index 009.

The only way is to update the CID firmware with Tech2 via SPS. Doing this will give the other code indexes.

Fuel correction will not work as the resistance sensor is the oposite of the voltage one, so there is no way to calibrate.
