    Airbag ECU reprogramming (Surrey)

    Hello all,

Been pointed over to this site from the gents at VXRO.

    Need some help and advise.

Short story, car got wet, Airbag ECU Threw codes. Found it and opened it and its fried. Got a replacement one and found out that VX need to program it to the car. VX are saying they can only be programmed once and i need a new one. Will be £500 all in.

Surely this isnt the case and if someone knows of anyone in the Surrey area that can program my 2nd hand one to my car that would be GRAND!

    Regards
    Phil

correct, they are a once programmed only unit...

Best bet is if you can get one exactly the same part number and ident from the same type car it will be already set up the same and you should be able to plug it in and it will work, think the vin number you can reprogram though

      Hi there,

Thanks for the information. I do have the exact same model, i guess it would be a case of programming it to match the VIN of the car? Or at least try that first and see how that goes. Where would i get one new though should that fail?

      TIA

Im certain its more the board that is fried, Will try and get a pic. Its quite a simple board, so ill check to see if any of the smd resistors are gone. There corrosion on the board which clearly show some ionic exchange. BUt you could be right, is its just the eeprom or mcu that need to be swapped, thatll help a alot!!

Depends on type could be just eeprom or mcu
Try cleaning yours with isopropyl and check than, can be still in working condition, but may need to replace some bits and bobs
