Emergency brake light function - Question

    Hello all,

Since I got my car 3 years ago I've been trying to enable Emergency brake light function in the REC.

Unfortunately option is shown as "Not available" in REC variant configuration.

After replacing ABS pump with one which supports ESP I tried again, however option is still not available.

Where to look for a root cause?

I would like to mention that my car came with pretty good level of factory fitted extras.

    Cheers,
    Nikolay

      Hello,

I found what is the issue with Emergency brake light function not available in REC.

This option is factory locked for cars, manufactured for European market.

It is not possible to be enabled even with Tech-2.

      Cheers!

Maybe change VIN No in REC to EU car, may become available?

Sorry I made a typo in my previous post. I meant that this option is factory removed from REC variant configuration list for European cars. And mine is with European VIN already.

So I will need VIN from a car out of EU.
Do you think this would enable the option without need for changing any code index somewhere?

      Cheers

I have seen it where a early vin number has stopped autolights being an option, but change it to a later vin number and then it appears at available so I do believe its worth a go

Well, this is very interesting. My car is manufactured in June 2004 so it is with earlier VIN. Will try to find later one. And you suggest to change VIN only in REC? And not in some other module? Without changing code indexes?

I have checked and the only way to program new VIN in REC is in Immobiliser programming section. Would VIN change requst new programming of Immobiliser? Would car start with different VIN in REC Immobiliser?
