CIM - Could it be put on wrong?

Right this is possibly going to sound weird now, but the other day i noticed that my steering wheel was straight, but the trim around it wasnt. I then used the adjuster to try and line it up. The right side of the trim and column goes up to the dash, where as the left side had a gap of probably 0.5cm. So its slightly angled down on the left side. Never really noticed this before, but is it possible for a cim to be refitted slightly off centre which would then cause the alignment issue? Steerings fine and tracking fine, its just the angle lining up with the dash.

      It's the whole unit behind.
Take the key out the ignition and lock the steering wheel
Then turn the wheel to move the cim.
      It's a common astra h zaf b problem

It's one common problem I've never heard of!

Thanks Gav. Still loads to do on mine - gotta replace the window regulator as some teeth broke off mine. Does this come apart or do I have to get the complete unit including the motor?

rear door is on the cards as well, bodged it a few times but Radio goes off a lot more now

Also when I was trying that GID I still can't get working lol. Under the dash trim at the top (the usual rattley bit) I had a gaping hole!, my bro in law said there was a speaker in his, so looks like they forgot me speaker or decided not to install on the early sri trim. At least it's a good place to install some USB slots for my phone and dash cam and then run behind the dash into a suitable live... Coffey lighter probably a bit too far away

If you remove the top cowling you will see the 10mm bolt that clamps it to the column.

Loosen the bolt and twist till its in the right position and re tighten.
