Engine cutting out after 40-50 mins Vectra 2.0 turbo sri 04 petrol.

Hi guy's and girl's, just bought a vectra 2.0 turbo sri 04 petrol and it keep's cutting out after 40-50 mins, the engine warning light come's on and the car is then immobilised for around thirty min's then start's again. Has anyone had this experience or know's what's causing this to happen. Ive heard the crankshaft sensor may be the culprit. Many thank's.

Have you tried the padal test to get the engine fault codes?

1. Fully press both the accellerator & brake and keep pressed
2. Turn the ignition to II but do not start the car.
3. Note down any codes which come up in the mileage display.

Codes will be in the form ECNxxxxx


It should work on the Vectra. If you post up what you have it will help.

Hello Richard thank you for the tip, I have already tried the pedal trick which give's 0602 code, I spoke with an speaking with an ECU repair company earlier today who suggested this code would'nt give the car that problem so im left scratching my chin a little, it feel's like an immobiliser issue (fuel cut off and starter solonoid cut off) ive been on a few vauxhall site's but to no avail. Im not the only one with this so it would be nice to get the bottom of it.

Just to advise that the pedal test works on some, but not all Vectra-C's.

I don't know why - that is simply Vauxhall for you.

I have replied via your other post, but would point the finger of accusation at the ECM or the CIM.

Although thinking about this - a poor charging circuit or defective battery can also cause this situation.
