Hi hi, first post on here so hopefully I can be of some help.

A good initial test to carry out on the HSCAN is to measure the bus where it terminates at the diagnostic plug (pins 6 & 14) for resistance. Have it all connected up back together and use a multimeter set to resistance and measure across these two terminals, you should have approximately 60ohms (this means the HSCAN is physically connected together ok, the bus has two of it's control units with 120ohm resistors built into them to prevent signal bounce, if the twisted wires are broken through anywhere, it'll give a different meter reading).

The UEC has HSCAN wiring passing through it, however the unit itself does not communicate on the HSCAN, something to bear in mind when testing.

Another area to check, does this vehicle start and run okay if bump started.? I recently diagnosed a starter motor on a Z16XEP Astra for no start - symptoms were that the vehicle would crank two or three times, then stop - after that it would lose communication with the engine ECU and throw all sorts of BUS errors and DTC's. The starter sounded healthy but was drawing too much current through the earth path it shares with the ECM.

Diag socket wont give much as cim is a gateway to rest of ecus and it will give same reading all the time, best to check between nodes.
