Id choose the astra.. Alot better build quality than the jap stuff.. Every car has its problems though mate, which engine was you looking at grtting?
Hey folks
Hoping you can help me with a decision... I'm looking for a hatchback (used, up to 3 years old max) but have been a little taken aback by the number of Vauxhall owners I know who seem to be having constant issues with their VX and the expense.
My favourite is the Auris due to its reliability rating and the low average cost of repair. Same goes for Hyundai.
Hoping someone can make me feel more positive about the Astra J as I quite liked it when I tested one a few months ago. Are you happy with yours and what issues have you had whether in or out of warranty?
Cheers :-)

Cheers mate, I'm looking at the 1.4 though I wouldn't turn down a 1.6 as it'll be on the motorway every now and then.
I just want a reliable car but when I look at online reviews (based on owner feedback) it seems every car has issues, but Jap cars have the best reliability but poorer handling and refinement.
I have the 1.4 and I love the build and drive comfort however the engine really lets it down. Get the 1.4 turbo.
