Zafira B 1.6 petrol 5 speed gearbox swap.

My brother has a 2005 (55) 1.6 5 speed Zafira B. The later models of the B also have 1.6 engines but they are paired with 6 speed boxes.

Is it possible to upgrade his B from a 5 to a 6 speed?

Anyone heard of it being done?

Dont see why not mate people fit the m32 onto the gsi to replace f23...

I have to be honest, I've never heard of
a) the M32 replacing the F23 even though I assume it's still a ZLET bell housing fitment
b) the Zafira B 1.6 petrol having a 6 speed box

You have to be aware of the subtle differences in the bell housing and also whether or not the intended gearbox will fit on the engine bay onto the existing mounts, thats the main reason why the Signum Z19DTH 6 speed (F40 ?) wont fit the Astra H and vice versa

It's actually the 1.8 that has the 6 speed box, my brother supplied me with the wrong info and I didn't check until today.

So.... New question.... Will/can the 6 speed box from a 1.8 Zaf B fit/be made to fit a 1.6?

Why would you wanna fit that box its s**T
I know u must have the same problem as me where ud like to slip it into 6th on motorway etc. But id rather have a 5speed box with no probs than a 6 speed that will blow up on you

I suppose it depends on the box really, is it more likely to be an M32 or another box entirely like the one fitted to the Signum ? I know the M32 from the 1.3CDTi wont fit straight into a 1.9CDTi, [MENTION=4]Pecky[/MENTION] found that out on one of his many gearbox changes

He wants to fit a 6 speed box cuz he's fed up of the car sounding like it needs a 6th gear on the motorway, it screams it's tits off
