Which first ? Wheels or lower ?

So, here's my dilemma. Won't be able to afford to do both for a while. So what do people reckon would be better ?
Lower my estate on the 16" design wheels ?
Not lower it yet (could be 12 months) but get new wheels ?
I'm leaning towards lowering it on the 16's just for better handling then get the wheels further down the line.

Id go for wheels first and the lower to the wheels thats the best way to do it imo just incase u lower it to much for your new rims

nah, springs , will look silly in the air on a set of tasty rims

what rims you going for and size
or more to the point , how low do you want to go , if your getting the correct offset for your car then it shouldn't rub

Not gonna go to low, about 40/45mm. It's still got to be practical.
And was thinking about 18's, though I've seen some 17" snowflakes for sale for £140 without tyres. And could probably knock him down.
But I didn't want to get larger wheels without adjusting the ride height. In case it looked like it was on stilts.

I've been looking at either eibach or apex springs and using my existing shocks, if I'm only going about 40mm my shocks shouldn't need changing. Does that sound right ?
Although I have seen a set of coilovers on eBay for £215 ? "Performance 3000 pro sport lowering springs coilover kit"

coilovers are a really rough ride, i personally hate them.

eibach are excellent springe, and apex get reasonable reviews too!

they sould be fine on your shocks, a little stiff as the shocks will be squashed to their limits, so it is worth upgrading to vxr if you can as theyre slightly shorter so there isnt as much strain on them with the shorter springs, that will improve ride comfort. but if you r short on cash id only upgrade either when you can afford them, or when yours go pop really. although chris has a set of IDS+ vxr shocks pretty cheap
