    Keyless Entry - Non starter

So some of you may of seen on Facebook, the twintop is currently a non runner.

She seems to have created a problem with either the key itself or the module inside the car, resulting in no ability to start/open or lock the car electronically.

I have noticed that there does not seem to be much out there to help resolve this issue so though I'd create a thread for any enthusiasts that face the same problem.

Obvious first port of call is our resident Tech2 specialist. So will keep you all posted on progress. At the same time if you have come across an issue feel free to share your problem and solutions.

I haven't really had a problem with mine so to speak... The other week it did say there was no key in the car it took me putting the key right next to the steering wheel to get it to work, so swapped to my spare key incase it was the battery in the key and it was ok for a few days then the same thing. Hasn't happened for a while now though so hoping just a blip.

I do have one scare about the push button start. Obviously I have no key ignition, also if I start the car and someone drives off without the key the engine (should) turn off for security reasons. What my scare is (although i'm sure there's safety features installed) what would happen if i'm travelling 70 down the motorway and the battery dies in the key or the sensor fails and it thinks there's no key... Would the engine cut out resulting in a nasty outcome or is there a safety feature like if it's over a certain speed the car will keep running until stopped?

I'm probably being paranoid but after Mum's crash the other week and rolling her car it's been playing on my mind!

I have no idea what would happen in that case. i pulled up at a supermarket the other day, keys in missus bag, she shot in to grab some things, whilst i left the car running. car didn't stop but it did bleep a warning chime.

I'm pretty sure there is an ignition barrel in all key-less cars where you normally put the key there is a plastic piece with a wi-fi logo on it, pull it off and there is the ignition barrel for the plastic spare kept inside the fob to go in.

The key doesn't fit into the barrel, Only fits the doors matey. Maybe yours does ? Would be interesting to see if it does.

oh ok, thats odd. i thought the plastic key fitted both as surely the door barrels and ignition barrels are the same just like on any other car??? unless your car has had the locks changed in its history??

I bloody hope not lol. Have a look at yours when you get 5. See if you can pop the barrel and get the key in.

My mom had to have a new transponder unit because hers was playing up not long after she brought it. Personally I'd stay away from keyless entry

Only issue I have with mine is that sometimes if as door is opened and shut it starts bonging so I just press the open button a few times on the fob and its fine, I love having keyless though, don't want to have a normal key ever again
