CD70 Navi eject button issues

As per my progress thread I've installed a CD70 Navi and CID into my Astra, it works great, even got the sat nav working tonight by fitting a Fakra GPS unit (as suggested by Chris .... Cheers Gairo for the info)

BUT....... The CD70 will not eject CD's, either music CD's or the Navigation CD. Pressing the 'eject' button for either slot does nothing at all.

Has anyone else ever had or heard of this issue before? I've googled the fault but didn't get much luck.

Would a firmware update resolve this problem? My firmware is dated 2005, I've read that there is a 2008 update available but I need an original CD from Vauxhall to complete the update (about £10 for the disc)

It's driving me mad and has a put a real dampener on my good mood after buying all my new goodies.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Hmm is it making any noise when pressing either eject button at all? I presume the maps are showing which suggest that its reading the nav disc in the bottom slot. Did you test it before removing it from the vehicle it was removed from? I think these may have hole to push a paper clip in like cd reader/burners to release the disc.

Once the discs are loaded it reads them fine, it's just then a right game to get the cd's out again.

The unit doesn't make any noises when the eject buttons are pressed so it's as if the buttons aren't doing anything.

I didn't get chance to test it as it was from a cat B car so it had already been stripped.

Try removing the fascia plate and checking the ribbons behind, could possibly have had a fascia change in the past and not been put back right.
