The blocks and heads are probably different and you'll be without a car while you swap the ancillaries over, if they even fit...
Hi all,
I've had a brainiac idea...sort of. I was initially going to save up for a vxr engine, but I've thought why don't I just get the bare block that either has the internals in it, or put uprated internals in it and then use the ancillaries off my current engine. Would I be right in thinking 1. This might be cheaper 2. My ancillaries will be a straight swap
Thanks

Why don't you look out for an Sri turbo ?
Depending on how much it appears you're looking to spend it also may be worth considering a Gsi, you can pick then up for pennies nowadays
don't know what engines is in yours matt but nufin will match up m8 I don't think , you need a donor car really that you CAN hear running this is what id do if I did a conversion again , your gonna need engine , gearbox , engine loom , engine bay loom , dash loom , clocks , mfd , driveshafts , gear stick and linkages I think , exhaust from turbo , ecu key transponder , boost sensor , afm , air box and intake pipes , this is why its best to get a donor car m8
there is no way of doing a conversion cheap m8 its a cuple of grand on parts at the cheapest and if you carnt do the conversion your self I bet the labour bill would be 1000+ at the cheapest may be worth just changing you car m8 tbh
post a pic of you engine matt and ill have a look if you can use anything on there
It will be cheaper just to change the car to an sri turbo, gsi or coupe/ cabby turbo. Will cost you more to mess about with yours even if you use the cheaper option of getting a donor car.
tbh im with @Adz on this one its a bit of a waste of money IMO because they already make the astra with that engine.. i know it would be nice to have a sleeper etc... but a conversion for me is like what ANT-VXR did the astravan.. corsa Cs.. or even thinking out the box but £££ start creepin up dramatically lol
have a big think m8 before you start buying parts as once you start then you carnt stop all depends how good you are with the spanners
If you want a sleeper then an SRi turbo or a coupe turbo is the way to go for my money, 2k will get you a decent coupe and then its modders heaven from there on in
