Yeah a heat shield will be a must! So a box is a must over the cone?

I was wondering what your guys opinions are regarding induction on the z20 let. A lot of people have been saying stick the diesel box on it because apparently it's better in some way. I currently run a cone filter which I don't mind but I'm looking to change when I put my 80mm maf on. What you guys recommend and why?

It all depends on the noise you want mate. If you like the induction noise then stick with cone and make a heat shield like the one on mine. If you don't mind loosing the induction noise then go with the air box Simples lol

If I'm honest the noise itself isn't a big deal to me, I enjoy the noise but can also live without it. Performance wise is there much difference? It all depends on the noise you want mate. My 1.8t suffers big time with heat soak, but I don't boot it and loooooove the noise.

Ive read a lot of debate on VXRO about cone vs airbox, as Nick says I think its basically cone for noise, airbox for looks, about the same performance wise unless your running serious BHP, personally im going for the 1.9 CDTI airbox conversion for next summer as I think it looks the best and should help performance wise
I think i would also go for an airbox or if nouse matters then i'd go all out and build the mother of all heat shields to avoid heat soak on a cone filter, although there is a third option of an intake kit like the dbilas ????
Is there not a CAI option ?

What's a dbilas? Never heard of that one lol
It appears as if I might be going down the box route. As I said I like induction noise but as a general rule I'm not that bothered about it
With a box will I need to extend my maf sensor wires as I won't be using a cross over?
