Just had the dreaded p2279 fault code !

I was on my way to work this morning when i noticed the engine management light was on, gotta be honest, it was the first time i'd noticed it but i had also noticed the car had stalled a couple of times recently at slow speed, anyway, got to work this morning and it was still lit so i checked my dash mounted guage which stores fault codes that it reads directly off the canbus system and it showed P2279:

intake air system leak...

i kmow this can be a number of things but it can also be worn swirl flap bearings and after finding out that theres no guarantee that Vauxhall actually fitted my car with the updated parts, i need to check the problem before making any rash decisions

i'll let you know how i get on

Hope it aint swirlies mate! Mine went on my H kept chucking me into limp mode sure mine was p2075.. Mine was a 56 so didnt have the uprated one and cost me £800 fitted

It'll be the EGR valve mate, nowt to worry about.

£95 for a new one, 6 bolts and 25 mins to change, clear the error and away you go.

Had it on mine prior to replacing then mapping out the EGR

Yeah, ive got the EGR off as we speak and its being soaked in WD40 as the solenoid was stuck open again, hoping that will clear the fault.

Hopefully it's just the EGR mate and u won't be spending too many pennies. That's why you should get a petrol mate

they are just as bad.. there are swirlies and an EGR that causes issues on the Z22YH petrol in my signum too..

thats the error mine threw up when my egr valve went, tried cleaning it ect n it helped the smoke but the light didnt go away...

just got it replaced in the end as it was due its mot in the same week...

now ive had my gearbox and flywheel done tho im tempted to get a remap and get rid of the egr valve...although on 70k the damage is probly done to the inlet by now
