as above since the new alternator went on ever now and then the idle hunts up and down ,rechecked everthing that was undone or moved and all sound so open to ideas

try disconnecting the battery for a while to perform a ecu reset so it can learn new parameters this happend to my friends car and after a bit of time idling and drivin it settle back to normal.
