    choosing upgraded panel filter

I'm after a better air filter but not sure which one is best or where to get one from.
I don't want to make the engine a lot louder but is a panel filter my only option and is ebay the only place to get one?

Also are the panel filters the same size or engine specific?

I believe you can get enclosed air filters , think their called the k & n 57s , it's a cone filter but with a sort of box around it

Theres lots of options really, KnN cotton filter, foam filters, cone filters, closed induction kits. Depends what you want. Ive got silicone cdti hose on my new motor with huge pipercross foam filter. Tbh in not sure if im keen on it. Its really loud and the exhaust seems a lot louder too. I may swap it for the cdti box and a panel filter instead after trax

Main thing was I didn't want it too loud. I had a big cone with stainless piping on my last motor and It was too loud. Was looking at a panel filter or a 57s but don't know if they are worth the extra cost

will give a bit more power but not much really, and barely noticable tbh. deffinitely better throttle response though. a closed kit certainly is quieter, like the 57s or d bilas flowmaster etc

Don't mind it it a bit louder, just not over the top, wasn't sure if the extra gains were worth the extra cost of a 57s.

i bought a k&n panel filter, sound was marginally louder and the car had fewer flat spots(however, the previous filter was full of grass leaves and dead things)

had 1 on all of my previous cars and never faulted them, easy tpo clean too..
