Hmmm, very strange indeed, that sounds like a wiring fault somewhere as there shouldn't be any power to the starter without power to the crank signal wire at the ignition...
Hi all just wondered if any one could help! I put a new starter motor on my van and it worked fine for a day then come to it the next morning and it started but the starter motor carried on spinning! Even when I turned the engine off and took the key out! Any suggestions on what the problem could be?

I would suggest wiring fault too or possible sticking relay
Where would the relay be? Il try and find it in the morning! Cheers!
Would it be worth changing the the ignition switch?
Iirc the relay would be on the motor if it has one. Could also be a bad earth or solenoid but they usually result in non starting
Has any one got a a wiring diagrams for an astra van mk4 please?
Ignition switch. I always advise this to customers when a starter motor is needed. Had problems with switches especially with mk4. As far as I can remember there is no relay. It will not be a bad earth. Make sure no bolt/ nut is on the starter shorting out the exceiter wire to the main k15 wire. Big red one!
I've had them off a couple of times and put back on but seem to be getting the same problem every time!
What's them? Pm me ya number.
