Dan's Arden Astra VXR Progress Thread

Hi there Guys! Fairly New to this site but hey ho here's everything you need to know about my Astra VXR in Arden Blue (Best colour option for VXR!!!) and what Mods i have recently done and what future mods i have set up for it
On the 15th of November i was working in London near heathrow and i knew that on Auto Trader there was a Astra VXR in the area near Heathrow (Hounslow).
So after Work on the way out of London i thought id go and have a look and see what i thought of it, did all the visual checks, checked oil, fluids, tyres ect....What didnt help the fact was that it was pitch black -.- Turns out it had no tax and no MOT. But me being me i told the man ill have it! This involved Part ex-ing my Astra H sxi 1.6

He had a look at the pictures i had of my astra H on my phone and he said bring it down on the weekend and we will sort something out, fair doo's I asked him if also if he could get it taxed and MOT'd before i got there on saturday, that he said yes to...LOL.
So on Saturday i left kidderminster about 10ish in the morning and got there for about 20 past 11 (i wasnt flooring it ) Got there thinking everything would be all hunky doory but NOOO! Car wasnt there, so i went in and asked one of his colleague's where the VXR was, they said it was havnt it's MOT and it would be back within the Hour, that was a load of....i won't say the word but lets just say i wasnt happy at all. I got there at Half 11 AM, the car got back to me at 7:30PM!!! All because they ordered the normal astra H springs for the 2 that had to be replaced but which should of been VXR Springs which turns out they couldnt get until the monday, so i told them to put it all back together because i was annoyed as it is and i still had a 2 n half hour journey home to do yet

So, as you no, No MOT means you cant TAX it, i didnt think about that when i drove it home at all or the fact when i was doing 150mph in it

Anyway, the next day i got the Camera out, standard!

    Mod's to be Done :

    LED Blue Boot Illumination
    LED Blue Footwells
    LED Conversion
    LED SMD Conversion
Vinyl Wrap Black Gloss : Boot Strip, Side door Strips, Rear Lower Diffuser, Spoiler, Wind mirrors and Fog surrounds
Vinyl Wrap Carbon : Door Handles (interior)
    HID 6000k kit
    Angel EYE Headlights
K&N Cone Filter with induction Hose
Milltek Exhaust with Sports Cat None resinated
M Tek Brake Pads and Disc's
    Window Tints
    Wind deflectors
    Debadge Griffin Boot
    VXR arden Blue badge Boot
    Gloss black Powdercoated wheels
    Remanufacture Centre Caps for Wheels
    Repaint Calipers Blue
    CD30MP3 AUX Mod
    RS Bonnet Vents (Maybe)
    Mini Stubby Airiel
    Eichbac Coilovers
    and Many More.......

Firstly i had to sort out the MOT and Tax
Had it MOT'd at my mate's Place, Failed. Front 2 Springs had cracked near the top and a major fault with the UEC :/ Had the Springs sorted but the UEC Issue involved giving it over the vauxhall to look at, at a price of £90 just to find out what the problem, then would have to pay extra to get it fixed.

Basiclly the UEC was Knackered, the mechanic said it had water damage which led me to think the car might have been in a flood :/ which also explained why parts of the chassy were rusted! Anyway had a new UEC installed by Vauxhall adding to a total of £480. So it total to get this car road legal i had to spend £830 which involved the MOT repairs and the TAX which was £150 for half a year! Im 20 years old, you can imagine how hard this was hitting my bank balance! Forwarded the bill on to the dealer i brought it off haha!
    Problems sorted!

    First Mod

Im an electrician 5 days a week so im in the no of how to wire 12v LED strip into my footwells and have a dinky little switch to turn it on and off!

Then had 5 windows tinted, back 3 were Piano Black and front 2 ive had done Medium Smoke (Apparently having front 2 windows tinted is illegal! HA)

Then Had bits and Pieces Wrapped Black

So then it was time to get my wheeles powdercoated black and as i was working away in london all week i decided to leave my car with my mate who did it cheap for me!
He told me the centre caps couldnt be powercoated because they were Plastic so i told him id do a little bit of a one off look with them

    Just Finished doing these earlier

New VXR Badge onto my Boot strip

My Twin Brothers fiest ST and my VXR

it's just that when i come to sell it i can peel all the vinyl wrap off and so it will be standard again and easier to sell thats why i never had them painted, but yeh ive only carbon wrapped my door handles which i dont like much anyway tbh
