    Smile Change of heart/car...

Ok some of you may know i swapped my corsa for an astra around a year ago...

sorry bit of indepth but something that i feel i need other opinions on as im the sort of person to miss obvious things...

im now thinking its not worth the money im paying per month for my astra (not on finance though) and there are three options that i feel i have,

main reasons for feeling this way is now i dont do as much mileage so diesel doesnt really make a massive difference to my funding atm as im only getting around the same mileage from a full tank in my 1.9 as i used to get in my 1.8 c, feel id rather have a cheaper car with no repayments of any form against it (again noting the astra is not on finance), I feel that selling the astra using the money to pay off the money i owe and having maybe more spare cash each month I could save towards moving out ect ect, and more recently had a few problems with the car and i know i could buy a difference car and same problems but i never had any problems with my last corsa and that is the option that is sounding so appealing atm to me...

first option out of the three that is most appealing, sell the astra buy a nice corsa c 1.8 sri use the left over cash to pay off various debts and leave myself in better financial position and potentially spending abit less per month...

option 2 keep the astra and try to pay off the money against it as soon as possible however it is still a substantial sum of money and could take upto a year if i devoted all of my savings towards it...

or option three which is least appealing to me, sell the astra, buy a bag of bolts that will just make it for a few months till i have cleared every penny i owe and then start a fresh with no loans ect...

the financial situation as it stands is an overdraft, credit card and bank loan for the car. However the bank loan remaining is lower than what i feel the car is worth however i may be expecting too much for my car...not 100% sure thats what i need your opinion on most...feel like atm im supporting a car and ignoring the money i owe and i dont want it coming back to haunt me in the near future, spoke to the bank manager he reassured me that the loan wouldnt make much of a difference, its the overdraft and credit card as they are student based and i am no longer a student so i will be paying interest on them soon...

any opinions or thought/advise will be taken in, obviously there are more experienced people on here with money cars and life and ive met a few of you now and trust you enough to listen to your advice

    thankyou

    Jez

I'd go for option one, with the thought of also looking at a 1.7 cdti Sri corsa c, you'll save money on fuel then aswell over the 1.8 petrol

I'd go for option one as well, however, if your car is not on finance, how would you classify it then as a bank loan is a form of finance and your car would still be at risk of repossession if you didn't keep up your payments on it.

Depending how much ''better off'' your going to be probably option 1 but it aint all about having a nice car so although option 3 is the least appealing to you its probably the best one as you will have no debt around ya...surely you could save up a few months for a C sri they aint a lot now are they

well the bank loan was a personal loan they asked what it was for but there is no tie to the car...i really do like the astra and i feel like i have alot more i want to do to it, but the amount it would take to make me want to keep it for a long time is not gunna be cheap...

only problem with that option is trying to find a 1.8 sri around here without 3mill miles on it is pretty much impossible, resigned up to ccuk and theres about 5 on there id love to have but there either in london or scotland!

obviously i dont mind waiting but if its going to take six months to get a diff car id rather do extra overtime at work and not stress and look for cars everyday lol

also not sure on this am i allowed to ask for valuations? just as a rough guide ive got a fifgure in my head of what my cars worth and just wanna see if im right or not hard to find an identical one on autotrader like

the ones im looking at are between 2-3k, dont want one with low mileage as long as the price is right and its not a dog...mine was on 91k when i got rid and id have it back in a second if it is till on the road like...such a good car, only thing that is alittle sick is tax at 210 per year :/

ps going to get a rough estimate on a c on insurance too as i was 20 last time i had one so if its loads cheaper on insurance then thats another big decisive factor!

I know what you're saying Jez but a personal loan still carries the risk of repossession of personal belongings if payments are not kept up, i'd still go option one as it seems you've half way made up your mind already....

i know ill keep the payments up they are less than 200 pm and i could pay it while earning 600 amonth at uni and im on over twice that now...i think its mainly the debt issue thats making me feel this way...If i could get 6.5-7k for the astra which i feel it is worth around that...that would pay for a corsa, pay off credit card overdraft and a decent chunk of the loan, and then the corsa would be worth atleast the same as the remianing loan or more, in which case id be no worse off but with less debt, paid back over a lot shorter of time and if insurance is less then be easier monthly payments ect ect...

the only thing thats stopping me is the fact i doubt ill find a c sri exactly how i want...
