Subject: Diesel EMS system - Wrong fuel consumption indication shown in board computer

Models:
Vectra-C 2004...,Signum 2004...,Astra-H 2004...,Zafira-B 2005...,Antara 2007...,Corsa-D 2007...

Complaint: Customer complaint about deviation of fuel consumption calculated through on board computer compared to real fuel consumption figure.

Cause: Problem was identified as an inaccurate fuel consumption signal from Engine ECU to CAN-Bus line. Mentioned possible deviation might be more than 10% for diesel engines.

Production: N/A, field fix only.

Remedy:
In case of customer complaint please perform TECH 2-"Fuel Consumption Correction" (correction from +12,7% to -12,8%) via TECH 2.

This needs to be done in Engine ECU. It's not possible to enter the correction factor directly.

To get the correction factor you have to execute the following steps:
Refuel vehicle till maximum and reset "Board-Computer Absolute
Consumption". The customer should drive as accustomed. (Attention: another driving style could influence the final result)

At the next refueling the customer has to refuel the vehicle till maximum and has to make a note of the "Board-Computer Absolute Consumption" and the refueling amount of fuel.
(Attention: The longer the driven distance, the more precise is the final result)

These two values has to be used in the TECH 2-"Fuel Consumption
Correction". Modified TECH 2 software will available as of TIS 2000-DVD, version 72 (June 2006, TECH 2 version 15.105).
