Forgot to mention it's a CD30 MP3. Grundig Unit. not Blaupunkt
Afternoon!
So, as some of you may remember I've had a parasitic battery draw and I believe we've located the issue.
Spent a good part of 4 hours today with a mate going through everything, steps we took are below.
Multimeter set in series between the neg cable and neg battery post.
Car locked & bonnet sensor cable tied down so the car thinks it's closed.
Keys were 5+ meters away (it's keyless)
Car took say 5/10 mins to go to sleep and provide a 0.01 amp reading (meter was set to 10amp scale, believe I'm correct in saying that's 10mA?)
It sat like this for 15 minutes before it shot up to 0.70 / 700mA and stayed like this for no longer than a minute before dropping to 0.01.
Next time, 15 mins later it shot up again. Long story short, we traced it back to fuses 35 / 36 in the UEC. With these 2 removed the car was stable at 0.01 for well over 20 minutes. To verify, we replaced 35/36 and removed 34 (CIM) and within 15 mins it shot up to 0.70.
Again to verify, we replaced all the fuses and removed the HU only. After 15 mins it went up to 0.40. Then we removed the BID and it was stable for over 20 mins at 0.01
Therefore the fault sits with the HU & or BID. Based on this diagnosis, can anyone provide a wiring diagram for these 2 units so we can see if it can be traced to something else or if the actual fault sits with the BID / HU.
Car is an 09 VXR.
The HU is a 2008 build
The BID is a 2008 build
Thanks in advance!

Pull cd 30 out and at the back of it is fuse for bid must check
No its cd30 fuse
Will check which is bid fuse but i think there will be one fuse for cd30 and bid
Ahh ok.
I doubt the fuse is knackered as it works fine, but would you suggest I check that anyway? (the one in the back of the CD30)
If it works fuse is ok no point checking it
Have you looked how can bus system is made in these cars as it can help you narrow it down to some seperate units for example infotaiment
Display is gateway to radio, bluetooth and dab
So if display sends or doesnt send incorrect data over can bus radio uhp or dab can stay powered on or in any other state
But display is also connected to cim as it is gateway to nearly all units
Ok that's fine.
I've got no idea about the can bus system on these.
All I know is that with the HU removed, the current draw dropped to 0.4 amps.
With the HU & Display removed it dropped to 0.01amps This was the same with both fuses 35 & 36 removed from the UEC. Fuse 34 for the CIM was still in.
We also tried to verify that the HU & or display were faulty by replacing fuses 35 & 36 and removing 34. but the current draw went back up to 0.7amps (for the brief period as mentioned in my first post).
I'm certain the fault sits with the display / HU but what I need is a detailed wiring diagram so I can see what else is on that circuit and try and isolate the fault further.
If you dont need it asap will give you access to my server where you will get full wiring not at home at moment so cant switch it on
That would be really appreciated
I've locked the car now and removed fuses 35 / 36 from the UEC and I don't intend to use the car for a few days so at least I'll be able to keep track of the voltage to see if it's dropping.
