as I have a fully functioning uhp my mic is very quiet, now I did use a generic universal mic and im guessing this isn't good enough but im struggling to find an astra one or are ther any other options I van explore
Does the mic need a pre-amp? Is it supposed to be just an electret or condenser type or something different?
I would guess you are using something similar to this: http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/sub-miniat...crophone-fs43w
This does need a pre-amp, if there isn't already one in the car circuit.
I got one of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/External-M...sAAOSwd0BV1J9X , and what you say makes sense as I think the Vauxhall one has a circuit in but im not sure
ok so gen mic is amplified so looking at something like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Microphone...8AAOSwHnFVw52l but I only have 2 wires coming from module I know you only connect 2 wires on the gen mic but what would I connect to on this one
or
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Electret-M...IAAOSwAYtWOH3i which is available from maplins
thanks
john
That seems to be pretty much the same type (electret condenser) as I linked. They are pretty much the first choice, cheap and effective. The first thing that would concern me is the 3 metre cable on the thing. Personally, I would cut it down to a much shorter length and solder a new jack plug onto it. That alone could give you quite a bit of extra gain. If you are competent with a soldering iron, try that. Also, do you know if the original mic has a stereo jack, or a mono jack like your mic has? A stereo jack could be supplying power for a pre-amp circuit, if the original has one built into the mic assembly.
