What usb programmers is everyone using?
I just used a really cheap CH341A programmer from ebay and a SOIC8/SOP8 to DIP8 socket adapter, as all I needed was an EEPROM dump. If I needed to program much in the way of other memory and microcontroller chips, I would have went for a Willem or a MiniPro TL866 or similar. Mini blowtorch to remove and replace the memory chip. Job done.

Would something like this work?

It should be fine, although I saw a couple there for half the price, and a TL866 for the same price. However, it does look like it comes with a handy clip for reading chips still in-circuit, so you don't always have to remove them from the board. This doesn't always work, though, and it looks like the clip may be too large for the memory chip which was in my radio.
