    Hi Soulman, thanks again for the valuable information. Unfortunately, I don't have code or old display for the CD40 USB I bought. I bought it from Alibaba : http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Free-...242121768.html

    It sounds like the unit I bought it not going to be usable :-(

      they can be decoded manually, by removing the eeprom and getting it from that.

      Pecky (who's site this is) offers this service if you send the unit to him..

      if it is brand new, then it would already be uncoded... I think these may be a china clone of the genuine cd40 usb

      Hi Soulman, the Alibaba seller said the CD40 USBs they have were removed from new cars, so they were fitted at one stage, and presumable coded. He didn't say why they were removed, but presumable for upgrade or localisation for that market. He also said they had been sitting on the shelf for a long time. Not sure about the clone idea, would cloning such a small volume product be worthwhile ??

      I'll get the soldering iron out tonight and remove the EEPROM.
