They will work and read the revs correctly, which will of course look odd as the red line is at different place.
They need tech2 to tell them it is a CDTI.

VXR Clocks
Will VXR clocks work in a CDTi?

Hey i have found a set of clocks that have been reset, now there from a 2.0 turbo Z20LEL
Will these clocks have needle sweep?
The part number is 13230578 UX

If they are just a 2.0 turbo, then no it wont be enabled as they come.
