    Faulty Cruise Control

I have an intermittant fault on my Cruise Control (fitted by factory).

I set it to 70mph on the motorway and then it will switch itself off for no apparent reason.
Often it does it when you finish indicating left after moving lanes, but has done it whilst in a straight line.
When it does switch off it often takes several attempts at pressing resume to get it to stay on again.

When it swicthes off my feet are nowhere near the clutch or brake pedals.

I also have a feeling that this all started when I had a new wheel hub fitted if that is linked to the cruise control system in any way?

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

Depends which side of hub you changed. I would try maybe taking out cc stalk an clean connections.

    Thanks for replying.

It was the off-side front wheel hub that was changed.
I have given the stalk a clean and it has made no difference. Will give it another go with some electrical contact cleaner as I only had a tissue on me before.

hmm should be ok with new hub as speed is taken from nearside but beware from cheap hubs had faulty one nearside before mot ordered one from ebay for quick change just to pass mot, ipc went weird up to 30 ok after it steps up by mile and on 40 up 90 it just jumps cant keep one speed accelerates and and drops down down for about 3 miles after few seconds again up than down so replaced with oem back to normal now, I would suggest check a clutch switch maybe its not in place

Would a faulty clutch switch show up in OPCOM?
I can get access to an OPCOM.

Sorry but cant provide any info for opcom not using it
clutch switch you can test with multimeter, stalk is much harder to test but if you know values you can measure resistance don't have much time in evenings but will check resistance on my on weekend
just make sure that clutch switch sits correctly in place

Ok guys, just a quick one. I've seen on youtube somewhere a test for the cruise control stalk. I've searched opcom and cannot find it under any section. I just want to be able to test that the switches are working ie tell tale but cannot find it for cruise control stalk?

    Hi

Only worked for a few days. I think its a bad connection since the stalk are moved up and down thousand times and this wear out the connection between stalk and cim for the CC. It should have been a plug instead!

For opcom, just go to engine module. I think it was there I found the test mode. Strangely, my buttons seems to work when in testmode which kind of rules out the bad connection issue. Could it be a faulty engine module? The ECM? It has a reputation of breaking because its mounted directly to the engine and heat and vibrations breaks the inside ground wires. I haven't had the time to take the ECM apart and maybe the electronics are sealed in a gel.

That data is under measuring blocks

Regarding fault it can be anything starting from cim down to wiring and ending with ecm
Ecm is mounted in different locations some of top of engine some not depends from engine
But I would bet more on cim fault
Currently wife has astra and cim couple of months ago started packing up first thing was key in ignition warning disappeared couple weeks ago passenger window stopped opening with remote with switch it's fully fine
So make your decision with what to start
