    Faulty Cruise Control

I have an intermittant fault on my Cruise Control (fitted by factory).

I set it to 70mph on the motorway and then it will switch itself off for no apparent reason.
Often it does it when you finish indicating left after moving lanes, but has done it whilst in a straight line.
When it does switch off it often takes several attempts at pressing resume to get it to stay on again.

When it swicthes off my feet are nowhere near the clutch or brake pedals.

I also have a feeling that this all started when I had a new wheel hub fitted if that is linked to the cruise control system in any way?

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

Depends which side of hub you changed. I would try maybe taking out cc stalk an clean connections.

      Thanks for replying.

It was the off-side front wheel hub that was changed.
I have given the stalk a clean and it has made no difference. Will give it another go with some electrical contact cleaner as I only had a tissue on me before.

hmm should be ok with new hub as speed is taken from nearside but beware from cheap hubs had faulty one nearside before mot ordered one from ebay for quick change just to pass mot, ipc went weird up to 30 ok after it steps up by mile and on 40 up 90 it just jumps cant keep one speed accelerates and and drops down down for about 3 miles after few seconds again up than down so replaced with oem back to normal now, I would suggest check a clutch switch maybe its not in place

Would a faulty clutch switch show up in OPCOM?
I can get access to an OPCOM.

Sorry but cant provide any info for opcom not using it
clutch switch you can test with multimeter, stalk is much harder to test but if you know values you can measure resistance don't have much time in evenings but will check resistance on my on weekend
just make sure that clutch switch sits correctly in place

It sounds too intermitant to check with opcom or tech2, unless a fault code is stored.

Clutch switch can be hyper sensitive and needs no force at all to activate it, you sure it couldn't be resting slightly near the pedal?

I am pretty sure I am not touching the pedals. My left foot sits on the foot rest.

I have taken the stalk out and cleaned the contacts on the CIM and the stalk, I have also taken the stalk apart and cleaned the button contacts but none of it was dirty or dusty. It made no difference.

I got hold of the opcom and it shows a couple of codes:

      OP-COM - CAN Communication Window> 2005 (5)|Vectra-C / Signum|Body|CIM (Steering Column Module)

I got few Vectra cruise stalks will check readings with meter and will let you know but
I would say check with another stalk if same than I would point to faulty cim or some loose conection in cim module

A faulty CIM is what I am afraid of.
Will probably get a new stalk and see if that fixes it.
      Thanks for the help
