Hi,

New to the site and was wondering if anyone could give me a bit of guidance/help.

My check engine light has come on today with the car then running a little sluggish. After doing the pedal test the two codes that were given were 000970 and 030401.

After having a look around I think i've managed to find what I think relates to the two codes:

p0009 engine position system performance bank 2
P0304 Code - Cylinder #4 Misfire

Just my luck this has happened today and my car was due to go in for its MOT on monday! Is anyone able to give me an idea of what these issues are and potential costs??

Just don't want to take it into garage for MOT, which i'm guessing will fail, and then get stung for an overinflated quote!

Re the 304 code read a few things that it may be spark plugs or coil which could be changed manually but unsure about the 'engine position system performance' one.

Any help would be appreciated as i'm not the most 'clued' up with car mechanics so would like to have a reasonable idea when i take it in to the garage for the MOT on monday.

Unfortunately engines aren't my thing and as I've always had a diesel, that doesn't help either.

Ideally you need the codes clearing and see what comes back, the system stores old codes so may lead you down the wrong path if it isn't that one causing the light. You need Tech2 or maybe an opcom for clearing the codes (They are OK for that)

Have anythings has been done with engine timming?

As of yet no nothing has been done with the engine timing. I've spent the last couple of days trying to find a garage to have a look at it. The 1st couple I asked said they could look at it but didn't normally deal with resetting sensors or codes but said that it sounded like it was misfiring.

I've managed to find a vauxhall specialist near me,just trying to get it booked in.

Could the engine timing be an issue??
