So you dont want to support the forum but take something it has to offer... and its not even like you've posted on the forum contributing to other threads and you've only been here a week...
I could go on because this sort of thing really annoys me... and is why half of the forums are dying because people come they take and dont give..
If you'd bother to read my previous post you'd see I'a trying to find a solution for an engineering problem. Really it's just a small CAN dump, it probably doesn't even contain what I need.
Also if I'm able to come with a solution, don't you think it's a better reward for the users of the message board?
With solution?
I see only one way to bypass this - make mcu controlled piece of kit which emulates dab
Is it worth it?

That's of course the most viable way, as it's probably harder to come with a firmware modification.
It could be possible to read the firmware of the HU and then carry the modifications necessary to enable the AUX input regardless of the expected response from the DAB unit. This means a lot of work, as we don't even know the CPU architecture that is implemented in this units and we don't know much about the instructions involved in the firmware update.
But, the most viable way is probably to emulate the response of an original DAB45 unit, that's why I was interested in studying the stream of packets that is originated from the DAB45 unit on the MSCAN (which links display, ECC, radio HU, DAB) and then of course implement a way to replicate this communication. There are a lot of these units out of usage because without an auxiliary input they are basically obsolete for most people.
Dont think will be 3 way switch is much cheaper than emulate dab unit

Yes, but when these devices stop receiving DAB or if you're outside UK, the CDC40 won't be able to active the auxiliary input, hence the need for an emulator. It's not expensive to build.
Did you thinked about security etc how screen radio and dab works together?
