    Sorry, I now realized I wasn't very explicit: I was referring to the audio signal ground wire, not to the electrical ground.

    If I'm not about to use the DAB unit at all, I guess I can bypass fitting the switch on the audio ground wire, right?

      I understood you, but if the DAB box doesn't receive a signal (because it isn't being broadcast) then there is nothing you can do as the CDC40 shuts off the audio.

      The DAB box reports to the CDC40 that no signal is being received over CANBUS and the CDC40 shuts off the audio input.

      I don't know of a way to get around it, if you don't have DAB broadcasting in your country.

      A very complicated solution would be to build a DAB box emulator (microcontroller with a CAN interface) so the CDC40 thinks it is connected and working. That opens up all sorts of options in regards displaying something useful on the screen also, but will take some effort.
