TBH there aren't that many people who retrofit the wire themselves. There are 2 levels of switched live in the Astra H which turn off at different times.

Ciggy one didn't work with me, nor has it with a couple of people who have contacted me.

Any black wire will do, it isn't taking a load at all it is just registering 12v at the UEC. You have to splice it as there is no where to add a pin free, if you unpick a factory loom it is spliced in loads of places.

    OK,

I'll try and tap it off one of these black lives and see what the outcome is tomorrow eve, just wanted to wire in loose to the top of the plug to test.

I'll let you know how I get on !

    Thanks

    Evening,

Well I've been out in the Garage again today, tried all of the black wires at the X1 but still the switch is not showing Active!
When using a multi-metre to bridge the 2 wires it read 14.23-14.25 volts, same as when switch is connected up.

So now I'm really at a loss, I've confirmed the connections all the way back to the UEC. Cant understand what else it could be, I know its unlikely but would there be a fuse in the UEC?

Otherwise I'm thinking it could be the firmware on the ECU, think the freeze date is original release. gonna look for anyone else with same symptoms haven't come across any so far though

    Any other ideas?

    Cheers

    Lou

It you are using opcom to check for the clutch switch, then forget it as it barely ever works.

Stupid question, but have you actually tried driving the car at anytime or are you just relying on diagnostic tool?

Have you verified it is fully programmed?

Unfortunately that all I have at the moment, VX dealers gone bust so not another one for 30 miles and they'll rip me off, prices go up £20 over night.
Just going from posts saying they have it flickering between inative/active. (appreciate its not the best tool for the job).

Yes I've driven it since but not with the clutch switch fitted.

Not verified everything as I was relying on the clutch switch monitoring in "opcom".
    Think its all programmed though.

Guess i should try this tomorrow

    Thanks

    Update,

Seems It was mean being an idiot!

Went out to confirm the Programming, I remember now too! wen setting Cruise control to present under Engine it was timing out...
HAD TO TURN OFF ENGINE AND SET WITH IGNITION ON

Since doing this the clutch switch shows active/inactive correctly!!!

So its good news. Just got to try fit the switch now, have removed the ducting to get better access just having a rest for the moment as my wrists are killing.

    Hopefully nearly there now thought.

    Thanks for your patience
