    Unhappy CDC40 Opera weirdness

Hello, just putting this out there in case anyone has been through this before or has any ideas...

My CDC40 is refusing to turn on.
I upgraded to a GID in my Vectra C (also replaced backlight LEDs at the same time).
For some reason I can't remember I had to replace the EEPROM in CDC40 and I used a dump I found on this forum.

All was fine for several months but recently it started to revert back to "delivery state" every so often.
Used OPCOM to repair the CDC40 to the GID.

Now the CDC40 refuses to turn on. If I disconnect + reconnect the quadlock I can hear the CD changer mechanism doing its thing.
Strangely if I try to access the CDC40 through OPCOM then it can talk fine.

I do get a fault code in the GID of U2201-00 "No CANBUS communication with EHU" - but how can that be as I think the CDC40 diagnostics are sent via the EHU??

I've checked all fuses, the EEPROM looks okay still.

Any ideas what to try next?

P.S. sometimes OPCOM interface doesn't work if I power my laptop via an inverter from the cigarette socket - took me ages to work that one out!
